Frequently Asked Questions

The Analog Data Logger is a wireless data acquisition IoT device that collects data from most analog signals and transmits them using long-range, low-power radio communications — ideal for geotechnical, structural, environmental and remote process monitoring.

The device connects to a specific analog sensor using any of its four different channels. It transmits data via Worldsensing LoRa networks to a CMT Edge for local-access, single-network deployments. Data can also be transmitted via the internet from the gateway to CMT Cloud for multi-project, multi-network deployment.

The Analog Data Logger supports voltage (±10V), current loop (4-20 mA), potentiometer, Full Wheatstone bridge, thermistor and PT-100 inputs. This covers load cells, strain gauges, pressure sensors, thermometers, flow sensors, temperature probes and many more analog sensors.

Battery life depends on the selected reporting period, number of active channels and sensor input type. With a 1-hour reporting interval, the logger achieves up to 10 years of battery life. With a 6-hour interval, it exceeds 10 years. The device uses 4 × 1.5V C cells that are user-replaceable.

In open sight, the range can reach up to 15 km (9.3 mi). In a city street, up to 4 km (2.5 mi). When placed in a manhole, the range is up to 2 km (1.2 mi), and in a tunnel it extends up to 4 km (2.5 mi). Range depends on terrain and environment.

Data protection and privacy are achieved through 128 AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) encryption on multiple levels, for all data being sent from the sensors to the application server and back.
