Overview

Extend Sensor Connectivity for Continuous Monitoring

The K20 Edge Repeater strengthens wireless sensor networks by boosting signal reach and maintaining continuous communication between sensors and gateways. It retransmits data from associated nodes to a main gateway using a tree network topology, allowing data to travel across multiple repeaters (up to 8 hops) to extend coverage.

Ideal for challenging terrains, tunnels, mines and extended infrastructure projects — ensuring critical tilt, vibration and GNSS data is transmitted reliably even where direct gateway signals cannot reach.

Key Benefits

Extended Network Reach

Expands coverage of sensor networks in hard-to-reach or remote locations where direct gateway signals cannot penetrate.

Reliable Data Delivery

Maintains consistent communication even in challenging terrain or long distances with >99.7% transmission success rate.

Durable Construction

IP67-rated housing built to withstand outdoor and industrial conditions including full dust ingress protection and water immersion.

Simple PoE Power

Single cable carries both power and data. PoE injector included in the kit for simple installation.

Core Capabilities

What Makes the K20 Edge Repeater Different

Field-proven range extension technology designed for underground and challenging monitoring environments.

Multi-Hop Range Extension

Tree network topology supports up to 8 hops with 150m to 3km per hop — extending coverage into tunnels, mines and dense urban environments where direct signals cannot reach.

High Transmission Reliability

>99.7% transmission success rate in default network configuration (3.125 messages/min). High demand mode supports 8 messages/min with >98.7% success rate.

Seamless Network Integration

Operates as a transparent range extender within existing Worldsensing networks. Compatible with both Cloud and Edge gateway deployments without additional configuration.

IP67 Rugged Design

Weatherproof IP67-rated enclosure protects against dust, water immersion and extreme temperatures. Operating range from −40°C to +60°C for the harshest conditions.

Simple PoE Power

Power over Ethernet (PoE) supports both mode A and mode B — a single cable delivers power and data. USB-C also available for local access. Mean consumption just 4.5W.

Multi-Band Support

Available in standard (863-928MHz) and 915R (902-928MHz) variants to match regional regulatory requirements across EMEA, Americas, India and APAC.

Applications

Where the K20 Edge Repeater Deploys

Deploy the K20 Edge Repeater wherever wireless sensor networks need to reach deeper or farther.

Underground Mining

Extend network coverage deep into underground mine tunnels where direct gateway signals cannot penetrate. Maintain full sensor visibility for slope stability and seismic monitoring.

Metro & Rail Tunnels

Continuous sensor data from tunnel linings, track geometry and ventilation systems across long underground corridors with multi-hop repeater chains.

Large Bridge Networks

Bridge sensors located far from the gateway location can connect through repeaters — ensuring complete coverage across long-span and multi-structure sites.

Remote Terrain

Deploy sensor networks across valleys, hillsides and remote slopes where line-of-sight to the gateway is obstructed by terrain features.

Urban Canyons

Overcome signal blockage from dense buildings and infrastructure in urban monitoring environments where direct LoRaWAN range is limited.

Large Construction Sites

Temporary repeater deployment for construction monitoring networks covering expansive excavation and building sites with multiple sensor types.

It strengthens and extends wireless sensor networks, retransmitting data from associated nodes to a main gateway and enabling multi-hop communication — ensuring data from remote or hard-to-reach sensors reliably reaches gateways.

The repeater boosts weak signals, enables multi-hop communication across up to 8 hops, and reduces data loss across long distances or obstructed areas with >99.7% transmission success rate.

The maximum distance between hops ranges from 150 m to 3 km, depending on terrain and environmental conditions. With up to 8 hops, total network coverage can extend well beyond 10 km.

It is designed for underground mines, metro tunnels, large bridge networks, remote terrain, urban canyons and large construction sites — anywhere direct gateway connectivity is challenging.

It supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) both mode A and mode B (802.3af specifications), or 5V through USB-C. A PoE injector for indoor use is included in the kit. Mean power consumption is just 4.5W.

The K20 Edge Repeater works transparently within existing Worldsensing networks, compatible with both Cloud and Edge gateway deployments. No additional configuration is required — repeaters are automatically detected and managed by the network.
